Venezuela and the admission of the People's Republic of China to the UN
On October 25, 1971, Resolution No. 2758 was approved during the 26th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, granting recognition and thereby admission of the People's Republic of China to the aforementioned multilateral organization. Regarding this controversy that began in the 1960s, Venezuela played a prominent role that is very little known among the new generations of university students.
On this occasion, we want to present you a new installment of our Understanding China podcastaimed at reflecting on Venezuela's position regarding the admission of the People's Republic of China to the UN. It will be hosted by Norbert Molina Medinaresearcher at the Center for the Study of Africa and Asia (CEAA) of the University of Los Andes (ULA) and Secretary General of the Venezuelan Association for Chinese Studies (AVECH) 委内瑞拉中国研究会.
Over the course of more than a decade, our guest today has developed a significant line of research aimed at examining the scope and limitations of Venezuela’s ties with Asian nations, including China. With this contribution, we wish to mark a date of great importance in the history of China’s contemporary international relations and its ties with Latin American countries.
