The fourth volume we are presenting is titled: Geoeconomía de las relaciones China-ASEAN: Naturaleza, evolución y potenciales efectos. ¿Impactan sobre América Latina? [Geoeconomics of China–ASEAN Relations: Nature, Evolution, and Potential Effects. Do They Impact Latin America?] 中国-东盟关系的地缘经济学：性质、演变和潜在影响。会影响拉丁美洲吗？by the Venezuelan academic, ULA professor, and AVECH member Oscar E. Fernández-Guillén. In his study, the author begins by theoretically contextualizing the research based on the tenets that explain geoeconomics, interdependence, and liberal institutionalism. From there, three other sections detail the context in which ASEAN was created alongside the rise of China, the nature of China–ASEAN relations, and finally, the impacts these ties have had on both regional and extra-regional international politics. Regarding this last aspect, he investigates whether or not these dynamics influence China–Latin America relations, providing a unique added value.

In addition to being exceptionally well written and employing a sound theoretical-methodological framework, Fernández-Guillén enhances his book with a collection of charts, tables, and maps to substantiate his analysis, fully orienting the reader from a geopolitical and economic perspective. This analytical approach stems primarily from the author's background as an economist, holding both a bachelor's degree in economics and a master's degree in economics with a specialization in economic policy from ULA. He is currently pursuing another postgraduate degree in Latin American Integration at the Institute for Latin American Integration (IIL) at the National University of La Plata (UNLP) in La Plata, Argentina. Besides serving as a professor at ULA, he is a member of the "Edgar Abreu Olivo" Center for Agrifood Research (CIAAL-EAO) at ULA, the Research Group on Regionalism, Economic Integration, and Development (GRID) at ULA, co-founder of the Group for Asian Economic Studies (GEEA) at ULA, and a member of AVECH 委内瑞拉中国研究会, the Venezuelan Section of the Latin American Association for Asian and African Studies (ALADAA), and the Reflection Group on Integration and Development in Latin America and Europe (GRIDALE).
